Homecoming 2008
Despite our loss to Minnesota,
the chapter welcomed back alumni
with a banquet which has now become
a tradition. Since the centennial
celebration, the annual pig roast
dinner has been something Acacians
look forward to. Pictures will be up
shortly.
Fall Rush 2008 Finishes with 35
The Fall 2008 rush is over, and
Acacia walks away with another
superior pledge class. The future
Acacians that the chapter has
recruited will become leaders of the
campus and community, and will
continue the tradition of excellence
that has been established at
Illinois. Dave Blumenthol (Class of
2010) has been elected Head Pledge
Educator and will lead these young
men into Acacia Fraternity.
Malcolm Award 2008
On August 9th, 2008 at the
Biannual Conclave, the Heth Chapter
was awarded the Malcolm Award for
being the best chapter of Acacia
internationally. This comes as the
greatest honor an Acacia chapter can
receive, and represents the pinnacle
of our achievement and a success we
have been working at for almost a
decade. "The Hello" will have a
special publication in early
September with detailed articles,
pictures, and more about the awards
and the Conclave itself. For more
information please contact a member
of our
Executive Board or a member of
the
Alumni Board.

Art Mertes receives Award of Merit; Matt
Conway receives the Order of Pythagoras
Along with the Malcolm Award and four other
awards of excellence, the Illinois chapter
brought home two individual awards at Conclave
2008. Art Mertes received the Award of Merit,
Acacia's highest individual honor. Matt Conway
received the Order of Pythagoras for "going
above and beyond the call of duty." Art is the
current Corporation Board President and Matt
Conway served as Senior Dean and Venerable Dean
before graduating in Spring 2006.
Congratulations to these great Acacians and look
for more details in the upcoming issue of "The
Hello."
